Alice Marlow Blackwell

April 29, 1935 – February 3, 2026

Alice Marlow Blackwell, 90, of Inman, South Carolina, passed away February 3, 2026, at Upstate Community Hospice House-Agape Care in Landrum. Alice was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina on April 29, 1935, a daughter of the late Otto and Gerry Horton Marlow. She was the wife of the late Jesse “Bennie” Blackwell. Mrs. Blackwell was a graduate of Spartanburg General Hospital Nursing School. She was a retired RN of Spartanburg Regional Hospital and Spartanburg County Health Department as well as a School Nurse for Spartanburg District One Schools. She enjoyed crafting, sewing, traveling, time with friends and family and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of United Methodist Church of the Covenant and developed very close relationships with the members and pastors.

Mrs. Blackwell is survived by three sons: Jesse Bennie Blackwell, Jr. and his wife, Caren, of Rincon, Georgia; Michael Edward Blackwell and his wife, Elizabeth, of Inman, South Carolina; Otto Scott Blackwell and his wife, Mechelle, of Mauldin, South Carolina. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Joshua Blackwell and his wife, Kim; Caleb Blackwell; Leah B. Kaisner and her husband, Drew; Lauren Martin and her husband, Kaleb; three great-grandchildren, Connor and Kinsley Blackwell, and Ella Kaisner.

In addition to her parents, Alice was predeceased by her sister, Vendetta M. Nicholson and three brothers: Loretta Marlow, Leroy Marlow and Glen Marlow.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 6, 2026, at United Methodist Church of the Covenant in Spartanburg, South Carolina, conducted by Rev. Heather Humphries and Dr. Steve Morgan. Services will be streamed online at www.umccovenant.org
