Inman, SC---Services for Mr. Albert “Wilbur” Smith, of Inman, SC will be Friday, May 13 at 5 p.m. at Lake Bowen Baptist Church, Inman, SC. Interment will be at the Lake Bowen Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends before and after services, from 4:00-5:00 p.m. in the church and 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the church fellowship hall. Mr. Smith died at home Wednesday, May 11, 2011. Mr. Smith was born Saturday, Jan. 13, 1934 in Inman. He was the son of the late Grover and Annie Laura Smith Williams. He was a graduate of Chapman High School, Inman; and retired from ALLTEL Communications after 27 years employment. He served as a deacon at Lake Bowen Baptist Church; was a former music director for Rock Hill Baptist Church, Inman, and for North Pacolet Baptist Church, Campobello, SC. He traveled on several national and international mission trips, and enjoyed serving others. He also enjoyed farming and riding on his tractor. He was a member of the Masons. Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty Wilson Smith; daughters, Deborah Loftis, of Anderson, SC; Donna Christie Barajas, of Boiling Springs, SC; Sonya Taylor, of Inman; and, Sharon Hammett, of Lexington, SC; siblings, Joyce Human, Mary Wall, Brenda Bridges and Martha Skinner; grandchildren, Derek Loftis, Brandon Loftis, Jeremy Christie, Andrew Christie, Katie Christie, Jessica McCoy, Daniel Taylor, Rebecca Hammett, Adam Hammett, Isaac Hammett, and Hannah Hammett; and, six great grandchildren. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by siblings Lucy Crisp and Shirley Sprouse, and granddaughter Caroline Taylor. Pallbearers will include grandsons, Derek Loftis, Brandon Loftis, Jeremy Christie, Andrew Christie, Daniel Taylor, Adam Hammett and Isaac Hammett. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Agape Hospice, 2210 India Hook Road, Suite 110, Rock Hill, SC 29732, and the American Diabetes Association 1701 North Beauregard Street Alexandria, VA 22311
