Albert Eugene "Gene" Lawson

Albert Eugene "Gene" Lawson, 88, of 2205 Motlow Creek Road, passed away Friday, February 17, 2017, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Albert was born in Inman, South Carolina, on November 28, 1928, a son of the late Albert Dewey Lawson and Iva Mae Griffin Lawson. He was the widower of Ida Viola Parks Lawson. He was a member of Motlow Creek Baptist Church, a retired employee with both Reeves Brothers and Inman Mills (Saybrook Plant). Mr. Lawson was a retired United States Army veteran, having served during both the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
Mr. Lawson is survived by a daughter, Kathy Jean Belcher and her husband, Scott of Campobello, South Carolina; three sisters, Frances Dickenson, of Cowpens, South Carolina; Joyce Alexander, of Sylva, North Carolina; Martha Morrow and her husband, Jimmy of Boiling Springs, South Carolina; a brother, Bill Lawson, of Campobello, South Carolina; three grandsons, Jeremy Melton and his wife, Anda; Jason Melton and his wife, Stacy; Jerry Melton; four great-grandchildren, Kristopher Melton, Julie Melton, Graycie Melton and Jerry James "J.J." Melton. In addition to his parents and wife, Albert was predeceased by a son, Michael Eugene Lawson; a brother, Eddie Lawson; two sisters, Mildred Williams and Rebecca Lawson.
Visitation will be held, Wednesday, February 22, 2017, from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Seawright Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Motlow Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Campobello, South Carolina, at 3:30 PM on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, conducted by Mr. Kenneth Lawson.
