Albert Ernest "Buddy" Nelson, 68, of 823 Winterhawk Circle, Inman, passed away Friday, January 25th, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Spartanburg County on July 1, 1944, a son of the late Kate Lawson Nelson and Ernest Nelson and was the husband of Teresa Fowler Nelson of the home.
He was retired as a truck driver and was a member of Lake Bowen Baptist Church.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era serving in Germany. He attended Woodruff High School and was a member of the Inman Masonic Lodge.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Becky McAbee (Brian) of Inman, a son, Larry Nelson (Kelly) of Lugoff, three sisters, Bonnie Hannon (Tommy), Peggy Watson (Jack), Renee Odell (Chris), a brother, David Nelson and four grandchildren, Austin and Abby Nelson, Tallon and Adison McAbee. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Anna Marie Nelson.
The family is at the home and will receive friends Sunday 5:00pm-7:00pm at Seawright Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at Seawright Funeral Home at 1:00pm on Monday, January 28th, with Rev. Chad Rickenbaker and Rev. Donovan McAbee officiating.
Interment with Military Honors will be at Lake Bowen Baptist Church Cemetery, Rock Hill Church Road, Inman.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Red Cross 104 Garner Road Spartanburg, SC 29301.
