Mrs. Agnes Shuler Shealy, 79, of 110 Stribling Circle, Spartanburg, SC passed away Wednesday, February 24th, 2010 at Regional Hospice Home
Mrs. Shealy was born in Holly Hill, SC on November 27, 1930, the daughter of the late John Ebbie and Kathleen (Whetsell) Shuler and was the widow of Cyrus Luther Shealy, Jr..
She is survived by 2 sons: John Player Shealy and wife Michelle of Walhalla, SC and David Allen Shealy of Lexington, SC., 1 sister: Dorothy S. Dantzler, 1 brother: James Vernon Shuler, both of Holly Hill, SC, 3 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. She was predeceased by 2 brothers: Dr Claude M Shuler and J.E. Shuler, Jr.
Mrs Shealy was the first honor graduate of Columbia College of the class of 1951. She held a Masters degree from the University of South Carolina. She taught history and math and coached basketball at North and Manning High Schools. She taught history at Spartanburg Methodist College and Chapman High School in Inman, SC. She also taught adult Sunday School classes for more than fifty years and was a member of Holy Communion Lutheran Church in Spartanburg.
The family will receive friends Saturday, February 27, 2010 from 9:00 - 10:45 AM at Holy Communion Lutheran Church.
Funeral services will be held at Holy Communion Lutheran Church at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 27th, with Pastor Gene Baker and Rev Robert Brozina officiating.
Graveside Services will be held Saturday at 3:15 PM at St Stephens Lutheran Church Cemetery in Lexington, SC.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Communion Lutheran Church, 1430 John B White Sr. Blvd, Spartanburg, SC 29306 or Covenant Presbyterian Church, 880 W.O. Ezell Blvd, Spartanburg, SC 29301, or Regional Hospice Home 686 Jeff Davis Drive Spartanburg, SC 29303.
